A final Year Medical Student establishes a Polytechnic in his Hometown.

“There are limited opportunities for young people to thrive in Margibi County. One youth who has survived those shortcomings is paving the way for an entire generation. Diafei F. Giddings, a final year medical student and the President of the Liberia Medical Students Association has built a Polytechnic in his hometown.

Giddings Polytechnic, a Margibi based institution of higher learning is being established to serve as a perfect alternative for students who lack the means to travel to Monrovia to study, says the founder, Diafei F. Giddings. Diafei who is a former leader of the Liberia National Students Union, Margibi Chapter and now, President of the Liberia Medical Students Association explained “Majority of the people graduating from high schools in Margibi have limited choices to pursue new opportunities, the easy option is to work on a plantation, sell the scratch card or ride a motorbike, and we are losing a great deal of potential because of this.”

“In addition to creating employment, the service provided by the polytechnic will empower young people with the skills and technical expertise to begin earning for themselves”, Diafei said.

The College of Health Sciences has been providing students with a rich and diverse learning environment. Knowledge, creativity and hands-on experience have always been at our core, and we’re proud of the generations of students who have graduated from our College of Health Sciences. We always encourage both staff and students to grow, learn and create each passing day.
